ABOUT US
The Kootenay Association of REALTORS® (KAR) is a not-for-profit association funded by its REALTOR® members and governed by a volunteer board of directors. KAR is comprised of approximately 350 REALTORS® who live and work in the communities of the East Kootenay, West Kootenay and Boundary areas of BC.
The REALTOR® mark indicates a higher standard of professionalism. KAR's mandate is to promote and enhance its members' higher standards through professional development programs, state-of-the-art MLS® tools and access to standard forms. We aim to provide the best tools to our members so that they can provide the best service to their clients.
Our Green Philosophy
KAR strives to maintain green initiatives within the office and throughout the board areas by reducing the need for paper copies and promoting paperless alternatives to its members. Meetings are conducted online or by telephone where possible, and professional development courses are becoming more and more accessible via the internet.

Our History
Over 50 years ago, real estate brokers decided that there was a benefit to organized real estate where standards could be brought in and professionalism could be enhanced. KAR is proud to have celebrated 50 years as an incorporated society in 2015.
